Rome wasn’t built in a day and building a campaign and police support network from scratch is going to take time. How much time is largely dependent on you and your willingness to make change happen. 

Our initial aim is to build a legal fund of £250,000, from a one-off membership donation of £25.00. This will allow us to launch and fund a legal challenge seeking to make changes to the Police Act 1996 and Break the Monopoly on police representation.  We have initial legal advice from eminent legal professionals, which suggests we have a good prospect of success in making changes to the police representative landscape, creating choice on Police Officer representation. Its our understanding any challenge will likely cost circa £150,000 - £180,000.  By securing a fund of £250,000 it will leave us with a good contingency from which, we can offer some legal relief to colleagues currently engaged in a range of legal disputes with the Police Federation of England and Wales. This will hopefully remove the need for colleagues to continually crowd fund for support if they find themselves targeted for challenging poor behaviour/practice and/or offering support and protection to colleagues across the country. 

But we don’t want to stop there.

We know that many police officers are currently not subscribing to any police representative body and are vulnerable in terms of legally defending any allegations of criminal, misconduct, or employment matters.  That doesn’t sit right with us and it’s in our DNA to try and help.  So we are thinking big and want you to think big with us.

By making a regular monthly contribution of £10.00 and assisting us in maintaining a solid membership base, we believe we can not only build a stable legal fund, but also attract the support of well-established legal and insurance firms to provide you with a complete protective legal and life insurance product.  In exchange, and in line with our commitment to openness, trust and transparency, you will have access to our accounts, minutes of meetings, decisions on spending and when significant decisions are being made on how your organisation develops, you’ll get a vote which really matters ensuring  you are at the centre of your membership organisation.

As the Police Pension Challenge we have a background of making things happen.  Over the last decade, we have obtained the trust and support of thousands of officers across the UK in challenging discrimination and victimisation as well making significant chartable donations, making direct improvements to the lives of our colleagues.  We have shown that, despite the odds or perceived obstacles and challenges put in our way, we have the resilience, determination and experience to make thinks happen. As Peelers Choice we will continue to build on our impressive legacy and drive the changes needed in Police Officer representation.
